Montauk State Trout Park (420 County Road 6670, Salem, Mo.) is located 22 miles south of Salem, Missouri. It is part of the Current River system which is fed by a natural spring releasing 50,000 GPM. It is the home of a rainbow fish hatchery.
There is fishing for everyone in the family. Small stream out of the hatchery, trout lake, Current River all stocked with larger than average Rainbow Trout.
The Park has a motel (Montauk Lodge 573-548-2434 or Montauklodge.com), restaurant, cabins (Reed's Cabins 573-548-2222 or [email protected]) and camping facilities. The lodge restaurant opens at 8:00am and closes at 6:00pm. It is not open after 2:00pm on Sundays.
The Park provides dry fly, nymph and streamer fishing in highest quality.
In November, the park is a delayed harvest area (catch and release) only.
It does allow spin fishing as well as fly fishing.
Weather can vary from warm to very cold. Be prepared for both.
Yearly or daily licenses are available. Daily is $8/day plus Trout Permit for an additional $10.Yearly license is $49 plus $10 Trout Permit. The Trout Permit is good for one year.
